Duties of the Board are broad in scope. The Board's main function is that of a policymaking body. The Board is also responsible for the following:

Approves the budget	Awards Bids	Conducts Elections
Approves building projects	Employs and Evaluates the Superintendent	Employs Certified Personnel
Approves property purchase	Identifies district needs and goals	Adopt policies
Sets district's tax rate	Serves as an appellate body	Serves on standing committees

Board members have no power to act individually in the name of the entire Board. Action can only be taken when a majority of the Board is in formal session.
